Ebook About
Jordan Buchanan is thrilled that her brother and best friend are tying the knot. The wedding is a lavish affair–for the marriage of Dylan Buchanan and Kate MacKenna is no ordinary occasion. It represents the joining of two family dynasties. The ceremony and reception proceed without a hitch–until a crasher appears claiming to be a MacKenna guest. The disheveled and eccentric professor of medieval history warns that there’s “bad blood” between the couple’s clans, stemming from an ancient feud that originated in Scotland, and involving the Buchanan theft of a coveted MacKenna treasure.Jordan has always led a cautious life and has used her intelligence and reason to become a successful businesswoman. So she is intrigued but skeptical of the professor’s claims that the feud has been kept alive by the grave injustices the Buchanans have perpetrated over the centuries. But when Noah Clayborne, a close family friend and a man who has never let a good time or a pretty girl pass him by, accuses Jordan of being trapped in her comfort zone, she determines to prove him wrong and sets out on a spontaneous adventure to the small, dusty town of Serenity, Texas, to judge the professor’s research for herself.Maneuvering through a close-knit community in which everyone knows everyone else’s business, Jordan never anticipates the danger and intrigue that lie in her path, nor the threat that will shadow her back to Boston, where even in familiar surroundings, her life is at risk.A powerful thug who rules by fear, a man who harbors a simmering secret, and an unexpected romance that pierces all defenses–beloved author Julie Garwood weaves these dazzling elements into a brilliant novel of romantic suspense. Shadow Dance is a searing tango of passion and peril.

Book Shadow Dance: A Novel (Buchanan / Renard / MacKenna Book 6) Review :

Rating: 3.5 StarsSHADOW DANCE is the sixth book in Ms. Garwood's romantic suspense series and while it's not a personal favorite, I did still enjoy it. JG has a way of telling a story that never fails to draw me in and keep me wanting to read. I'll be honest and say I expected a bit more out of Noah since he's a descendent of the Claybourne family from her historical romance series. I'm also not very fond of the "friends to lovers" theme, which is basically what happens in this one. I had a hard time believing that Noah went from playboy to monogamous pretty much overnight too. On the other hand, he and Jordan were both wonderful people that I truly liked and their romance was sweet. It was also a joy to see others we've met throughout this series make reappearances.I debated between three and four stars for this story, but ultimately decided to go with four since I did finish the book fairly quickly. It was a fun and easy read that flowed well, even though it started out a little slow for me. The killer was never too easily to figure out either since there were so many suspects to pick from, and it's not until about 3/4 of the way through that the reader is let in on who this person actually is. The suspense was well done too though I would've liked to have felt more fear, creepiness, or something from the villain, but unfortunately we don't see a lot of him/her. In the end it wasn't perfect, but any Garwood book is better than most and I found it to be a thrilling, witty, and entertaining read that I had a hard time putting down =)
So we finally have Noah Claybourne’s story and his perfect match? Jordan Buchanan of course. Here’s what I loved about this book:- It’s funny. Yes, there are several murders and it’s still funny. The trunk thing - okay yes, it was dead bodies but was hilarious. After all, only Garwood could make dead bodies in trunks funny.- The setting. This is another small town setting for Garwood which I believe she’s quite good at writing. All of the colorful, oddball, and quirky bits which are so very true to small town living are in full force here in the ironically named town of Serenity, Texas- The heroine. We’ve met Jordan before in other books and really only briefly. Now we find out that she’s incredibly intelligent, driven, and at a crossroads in her life (which serves as the impetus to get her down to Texas). Oh and I absolutely loved that Garwood made her the somewhat nerdy computer genius who took things apart as a kid to figure out how they worked. All hail the female nerd!!!- Noah, Noah, Noah. We’ve met him - several times in fact. He’s funny, sarcastic, a bit of a rebel, and after reading about him posing as a priest in Heartbreaker (hands down, best part of that book), I couldn’t wait for his story. He did not disappoint! On top of my list, you have fires, crooked cops, murder, blackmail, and attempted murder. In other words, it’s definitely not a slow plot! This earned an enthusiastic five stars from me.
